Playful Waterfront Engagement Session at Violet Andrews Park | Portland, Texas
Brooke and Derek and I had so much fun running around Violet Andrews Park in Portland. I was so excited that Brooke picked this location because 1) It is one of my favorite locations for sessions but I don’t get to use it often because it is a bit of a drive and 2) Brooke grew up going to this park and it is one of her favorite places on earth AND it is were Derek proposed!
I always suggest couples pick an engagement session location that is special or has some significance to them and their relationship!
We started the session at the top of the hill where he asked her to marry him. The view of the Corpus Christi Bay is breathtaking. Then we made our way down toward the water chatting and bonding over each of our sports-related broken (and now crooked) pinky stories!
The session ended splashing and playing in the water - I had them dancing, snuggling, and Derek even showed off some pretty epic expert level dip skills! As we were leaving Derek made the comment “that was actually fun!” which makes my heart do a little happy dance! That is the GOAL - I know the guys aren’t always thrilled about portraits. I believe it should be fun for everyone though. It’s not just about pretty pictures. it’s about having a good time and making memories with your favorite person.
Brooke and Derek it was so wonderful meeting and working with you both. I hope that I get to see your wedding photos and definitely hope to see you both again in the future for more important life moments!
